Seeing the city in new ways…

Sometimes we don’t have to go far from home in order to be refreshed by a journey. I was a little reluctant to pack up my bike and gear to go to yesterday’s CicLAvia, but the chance to ride car-free streets was just too compelling, especially since my destination was the Watts Towers.

I had visited the towers a number of times, but always going by freeway in my car. Riding up to them with dozens of other people gave me a fresh perspective, on what has been described as the largest artwork ever created by one man.

If you’ve never seen them in person, you will probably be surprised at the scale of them, and their highly crafted surfaces.
